mogwai, mono, labradford, shellac, four pigs flying together through space - hands locked and grinning as they explore the cosmos.
history.
Matthew and Stuart practiced together as brothers for years, first playing at home and then together at talent nights of both each other’s schools. Then around 2000, a school friend of Stuart’s Andrew Glover, joined them onstage at a few of these high school talent nights. No band was formed but the future lineup was set. Forward to 2001, by now Matthew and Stuart had discovered a building in town called the Music Resource Center. They used to go there almost every day and jam with whoever happened to float through the building. But it never seemed perfect or comfortable until Andrew started coming along…and then nonstop practicing followed, the spaced-out sound of the band slowly evolving over the next year. With Andrew and Stuart both having passed 18 the band was forced to leave the Music Resource Center. So shows in the Virginia area were booked and Graboids as a live band came into existence.
Then a new era in Graboids started, the hibernation period. Members of the band dispersed to different areas and over the next three years shows would be played whenever the three could get together, which included spring breaks, summers and winters. An ep would be recorded Pure Noise EP in 2004 (self-released with a limited run of 100 copies). But while the band came in and out of hibernation periodically, there was never any doubt as to whether or not it would continue. Jim Hale joined as a permanent member right before a summer 2006 tour, taking up the month of July traveling the East Coast and Mid-West. Next touring in winter ’07 (East Coast/South).

“Graboids craft a swirling post rock hybrid, a wordless ambient/prog/shoegaze miasma of lilting contentment and chaotic fury. Graboids’ effects-drenched space rock is an engaging and mesmerizing experience.” - Amplifier Magazine
“With Infinite Delay, Graboids have created something as out-of-this-world as any instrumental release on the market. This might just be the space rock/post-rock fusion you never realized you were looking for.” - The Silent Ballet
“Infinite Delay is the sound of a freefall, a toppling and flailing sonic masterpiece that sways from its controlled and smooth direction into panic-filled nonsensicality and returns” - Performer Magazine
“Each song is its own miniature journey through a shifting fog of texture and dynamics that never grows stale or repetitive; their grasp of dynamics includes both the employment of gradual, growing layers of sound density and the ability to shift into significantly different levels of volume and texture without having any of it sound forced.” - Dead Angel
